Before Nike SB was even a thing, there was the Nike Dunk Low Pro B. This was the first Dunk to feature a ‘fat’ tongue with extra padding and elastic straps to keep the tongue in place. When Nike officially launched its skateboarding division in 2002, these features were incorporated into the SB Dunk Low, along with other skate-friendly features such as Zoom Air insoles.
Nike SB is now gearing up to release a new “Parachute Beige” Dunk Low that pays homage to the Pro B era. Photos of an early sample pair bear a striking resemblance to the Dunk Low Pro B “Putty” from 1999, though with beige suede instead of grey. The midsole on this pair is slightly yellowed for a vintage effect, like how a pair from 1999 would look today.
While the pair features Nike SB branding on the tongue labels, the “SB” part is a light tan color that is hard to distinguish against the white backdrop. This is another nod to the Pro B Dunks from the pre-SB era. Additionally, the branding on the heel is printed on, just like the “Putty” Pro B, and not embroidered like most SB Dunk Lows.
It’s also worth noting that this is a SB Dunk Low OG and not the SB Dunk Low Pro that we are more accustomed to these days. The SB Dunk Low OG has a few different features than the Pro, such as no pods on the heel liner, original Dunk Low tooling, and no hidden lace flaps on the bottom eyelets.
The Nike SB Dunk Low “Parachute Beige” is expected to drop in January 2025 on SNKRS and at select skate shops. Grab an early look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
