Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U Drops This Week

Original Story (09/09/24): Earlier this year, Bricks & Wood teased that it had three New Balance collaborations in the works, set to release between October 2024 and February 2025. The first of those projects has now been unveiled, the Bricks & Wood x New Balance 1906U.

Revealed by Dani Barraza, Bricks & Wood COO and designer of the shoe, the Bricks & Wood 1906U comes dressed primarily in black with pops of fuschia, yellow, and green hues throughout. Based on the preview images, the shoe’s design draws inspiration from Chrysiridia rhipheus, AKA the Madagascan sunset moth. Often confused for a butterfly due to its bright colors and daytime activity, the sunset moth features tiny scales on its wings that gives the moth its radiant hues.

This 1906U marks the third collaboration between New Balance and the South Central Los Angeles streetwear brand. It follows their 57/40 project released in 2021 and the 9060 “Nothing Changed But The Address” from 2023, the latter inspired by the Bricks & Wood founder Kacey Lynch’s grandma’s house.

Update (10/07/24): Bricks & Wood has provided some release details for its 1906U collab, officially titled “Echoes of a Butterfly.” The shoe will first launch in-store at Space(s) by Bricks & Wood in Los Angeles on October 12th, followed by a global release on October 18th.
