BLACK COMME des GARÇONS Brings the Nike Eagle Out the Vault

0

BLACK COMME des GARÇONS has a tendency to pick more obscure models for its collaborations with Nike. After dropping its own version of the Air Zoom Talaria last year, the CdG sub-label is now bringing the Nike Eagle out of the archives.

The Nike Eagle was originally introduced in 1980 as a road racing shoe and was one the most lightweight shoes ever produced at the time, weighing in at 5.1 ounces. The shoe received legendary status when runner Alberto Salazar won the 1980 New York City Marathon in the shoe, completing the race in under two hours and ten minutes. Some reports say that he wore the model when he won the race again in 1981, though others say it was the unreleased Nike Skylon.

The Nike Eagle has never been reissued since its introduction in 1980, that is until now. BLACK CdG is now dropping its own version of the model, dressed of course in a “Triple Black” color scheme. It features black nylon construction paired with black suede overlays and a black leather Swoosh. CDG branding is found on the heels.

The BLACK COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Eagle makes its retail debut on March 18th at CDG stores in Japan and at Dover Street Market locations worldwide.
