A Ma Maniére x Nike x Converse Chuck 70 Revealed

When James Whitner unveiled A Ma Maniére’s 10th anniversary “While You Were Sleeping” collection with NIKE, Inc. earlier this year, the Whitaker Group founder pointed out that the collection consists of seven pieces, though only six sneakers we revealed. As all six pairs have officially dropped, we now have a first look at the mysterious seventh sneaker.

Attendees of a recent A Ma Maniére F&F dinner in London received a pair of A Ma Maniére x Converse Chuck 70s, featuring some interesting details. Black Nike Swooshes adorn the lateral side panels, with the Swoosh on the right shoe being embroidered and the Swoosh on the left shoe made of leather. The tongue tags feature mismatching Nike and A Ma Maniére branding, and the metallic lace dubraes are mismatched as well, with the Nike Swoosh and the Converse One Star. Other features include Natural Ivory canvas uppers, A Ma Maniére monogram pattern on the sockliners and heel strips, A Ma Maniére branding on the metallic lace tips, and Zoom Air cushioning for improved comfort.

This Chuck 70 joins six other sneakers released as part of the “W.Y.W.S.” collection earlier this year, consisting of a mix of Air Jordan, Nike Sportswear, and Converse silhouettes. This includes an Air Jordan 3, Air Jordan 4, Air Jordan 39, Nike Air Force 1, Nike Air Max 95, and a Converse Weapon Ox.

The design of the AMM Chuck 70 instantly reminds us of Virgil Abloh, who originally pitched a Swooshed up Converse Chuck 70 for his Off-White x Nike “The Ten” collection that released in 2017. However, this design was not approved, and the Off-White x Converse Chuck 70 that ended up releasing did not feature the Swoosh. A Ma Maniére’s Chuck 70 feels like a tribute to Abloh, as Off-White is Nike’s only collaborator besides A Ma Maniére to have released a multi-brand collection across all three NIKE, Inc. divisions: Nike, Converse, and Jordan Brand.

As of now, the A Ma Maniére x Converse Chuck 70 is not expected to get a public release. Reportedly, only 100 pairs were made available, exclusively for friends and family.
