Original Story (04/09/22): Jordan Brand has picked a superstar line-up of collaborators to usher in the return of the Air Jordan 2. Joining the likes of Virgil Abloh and J Balvin is contemporary artist Nina Chanel Abney with her own take on the silhouette.
The colors on this Air Jordan 2 are an obvious nod to the OGs, though subtle design changes and a modified shape give new breath to the classic 1986 release. The height is a bit taller, grey suede has been added to the toe and heel, and the shape of the pebbled leather overlay has been modified. Personal touches to Abney are her name on the insoles and a framed painting of Michael Jordan in action as a hangtag. This painting is based on a photograph of a young MJ wearing the Air Jordan 2 in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers during the 1986-87 season.
