One of TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2025, designer Willy Chavarria is reconnecting with adidas Originals to release a new Spring/Summer 2025 collection.
The new collaboration was first teased during Willy’s SS25 show AMÉRICA at NYFW in September. AMÉRICA highlighted the backbone of the country—the working class—featuring an array of ’70s work uniform-inspired pieces. This new joint venture with adidas blends that workwear theme with streetwear aesthetics and high-performance athletic wear, all while incorporating Chavarria’s distinct design language that pays homage to Mexican-American culture.
Footwear in the collection includes Chavarria’s take on the archival adidas Jabbar sneaker, originally created for Kareem Abdul Jabbar, one of the most celebrated basketball players of all time. Styles include the Chavarria Jabbar Low in a black/red colorway, as well as two colorways of the Chavarria Jabbar Dress, a dress shoe-inspired take on the silhouette featuring premium leather uppers and a pointed toe.
The apparel offering includes the Chicano Sweatshirt, a football jersey, polo, track jacket, gym shorts, the Chavarria Signature T, and a heavyweight hoodie. A second drop will introduce the Poplin Trackpant and Top, a basketball jersey, and additional gym shorts.
The collection is accompanied by a campaign paying tribute to those whose lives and stories uplift both community and culture, exploring themes of love, legacy, family, and friendship. Shot in South Central LA by Carlos Jaramillo, the campaign honors Chicano culture featuring traditions passed down through generations and includes stars such as retired WNBA superstar Candace Parker, UCLA Bruins Guard Skyy Clark, and Mexican actor Alejandro Spéitzer.
“adidas’ place in Chicano culture is a bit of an untold story. I love sharing this iconic brand in a way that reflects how I wore it growing up and how we wear it now,” says Willy Chavarria. “Working with my close friends and extended family on this project in LA was a powerful and personal experience. It allowed me to capture the beauty of our Brown brothers and sisters against the backdrop that is home to so many of us.”
Along with the SS25 collection, Willy Chavarria and adidas previously previewed their upcoming AW25 collection at Willy’s TARANTULA showcase, marking the designer’s Paris Fashion Week debut.
