Who Decides War Drops Basquiat Collection with H&M

H&M has teamed up with the estate of Jean-Michel Basquiat to release a collaborative collection, enlisting the founders of Who Decides War as creative directors for the project.

After being featured in the Basquiat estate’s “King Pleasure” fashion exhibition in 2022, New York-based fashion designers Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore continue to explore Basquiat’s legacy and his impact on young Black creatives with a collection that will be available at H&M stores worldwide.

Instead of focusing on the influential artist’s well-known crowns and dinosaurs, Bravado and D’Amore selected some of Basquiat’s lesser known work to be featured across the collection. The designers selected artworks that portray Black jazz artists such as Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, as well as other artworks that spoke to them on a deeper level.

The designers also made sure to add their personal touch to the pieces, with Who Decides War’s signature window design a featured on denim jackets, jeans, hoodies, and more.

“The denim set is the perfect synergy between all participants in this beautiful collab. Basquiat’s art is enshrined in our signature window design, set on top of thoroughly distressed denim powered by H&M,” says Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore.

The H&M x Jean-Michel Basquiat collection by Ev Bravado and Téla D’Amore drops August 1st at H&M stores and the H&M website (10am ET). Check out the lookbook and product shots below.
