Stüssy & Denim Tears Reconnect for Spring 2025 Collection

Tremaine Emory doesn’t get enough credit for Stüssy’s resurgence. His contributions during his time as the brand’s consultant and later art director helped bring back the allure that the OG streetwear brand had lost during the 2000s and early 2010s.

The history between Tremaine Emory and Stüssy runs deep, with another chapter now being written with the launch of a new Stüssy x Denim Tears “Stüssy Tears” collection. The 17-piece offering draws inspiration from Emory’s experience attending school in Jamaica, Queens, where playing spades was a popular pastime. The card game and its importance in African American culture is highlighted throughout the collection, such as with the playing card suits on the buttons of the knit cardigan, as well as with the graphic tee that features the painting ‘Six No Uptown’ by civil rights advocate Annie Lee.

While some schools ban playing cards to prevent gambling, the new “Stüssy Tears” collection imagines a world where the school system embraces students’ love of spades. Styles synonymous with school uniforms, such as blazers and khakis, are reimagined with with iconography from both brands, including a Cotton Wreath version of Stüssy’s Double S logo, the infamous 8-ball, and the Pan-African American flag.

Stüssy x Denim Tears Spring 2025 drops Friday, February 14th at 11am EST on the Denim Tears website and in-store at African Diaspora Goods in NYC. The collection will also be available on stussy.com (1pm EST), at Stüssy chapter stores, and Dover Street Market. Check out the lookbook shots below.
