With the recent appointments of Shaquille O’Neal as President and Allen Iverson as VP, it’s the start of a new era for Reebok Basketball. The brand has kicked off a new strategic move to return to the court in 2025 and beyond, but in the meantime, there are a tons of great Reebok basketball silhouettes that deserve to be brought back from the archives. A prime example is Allen Iverson’s Answer III, which was only been retro’d once (in 2006) since its original release in 1999.
Reebok is now bringing back the Answer III in its OG white and red colorway, the same colorway that AI wore throughout the 1999-00 NBA season. This will mark the colorway’s first ever re-release, as it was not included in the 2006 retro lineup. Like the OGs, the 2023 version feature a white leather upper with red nubuck overlays. All of the other iconic details from the ’99 release also make their return, including the DMX foam midsole and classic I3 branding.
Here’s a couple fun facts about the Answer III. John Krasinski’s character in The Office, Jim Halpert, wore a pair of A3s in the “Basketball” episode (Season 1, Episode 5), which aired on April 19, 2005. The A3 was also the first basketball shoe to be featured in a video game, appearing in the original NBA 2K.
The Reebok Answer III in OG white/red returns on Friday, November 10th on the Reebok website and at select retailers. Check out official images of the 2023 retro below.
