Palace Skateboards has unveiled its next big fashion collaboration. After partnering with fellow UK brand Berghaus earlier this season, the British team-ups continue with Palace x Vivienne Westwood.
Palace’s collaboration with the iconic design house demonstrates the subversive spirit shared by both parties, with culture and humor at the heart of the designs. Meanwhile, references to the Vivienne Westwood archive keep the influential designer’s legacy alive, nearly two years removed from her passing. A great example of this are the GORE-TEX pieces — hooded jackets, track pants, and skirts — which adopt the “Salon” print from Vivienne Westwood’s SS92 collection. The print is also used on skate decks and trapper hats.
The comprehensive collection includes a womenswear offering, a first for Palace, featuring the Vivienne Westwood classic corset reproduced and updated in black and white satin with a print of PALACE founder Lev Tanju’s beloved dog Stuart. A ribbed cotton corset vest also appears in black or white, joined by fitted leopard print knitted hoodie, trousers, and matching knickers.
The offering also includes Palace’s staple streetwear tees and hoodies, adorned with a co-branded logo that combines the Palace triferg and the iconic Vivienne Westwood orb. The orb is also used as the all-over print found on the denim flight suit, jacket, jeans, shorts, and skirt.
A stand-out in the accessories is the oversize teddy bear bags inspired by Vivienne Westwood’s early ’90s iconography. These also come in keychain form. Other accessories include trucker caps, berets, long printed socks, jewelry, bandanas, belts, and studded small leather goods.
The collection’s campaign underscores the disruptive spirit of both brands with a street-style photoshoot by Shoichi Aoki, founder of the Japanese street fashion magazine FRUITS. Shot in the streets of London, the campaign features a bold cast that includes US rappers and singers Semetary and Matt OX, ’90s model and activist, Sibyl Buck, model couple Ed Teller and Issa Lish, Palace rider Lucien Clarke, DJ and singer Josh Café, and more. The campaign images will be compiled in a limited-edition Palace Westwood zine, available for free with in-store purchase.
The Palace x Vivienne Westwood collection will be available starting Friday, September 6th via Palace and Vivienne Westwood flagship stores globally, as well as online on the Palace website. Check out Shoichi Aoki’s campaign and the product shots below.
