Patta and Nike have teamed up for a special collection dedicated to FC Barcelona fans worldwide.
The “Culers del Món” collection was designed to connect the club’s supporters through their shared Blaugrana blood. Graphics of the human heart and circulatory system represent the pulse of Culers everywhere, showcasing the Barça blood that pumps through each fan’s veins (“blau” or blue) and arteries (“grana” or deep red).
Even though it hails from Amsterdam, Patta is an ideal partner for this project, as FC Barcelona has rostered many great players from the Netherlands. Barça’s Dutch-Suriname player connection is also highlighted through Patta’s founders, Guillaume Schmidt and Edson Sabajo, both of whom are Dutch-Surinamese.
“Patta has a long-standing history with football and football jerseys, and if you know us, you know that we only do things that are true to who we are,” says Schmidt. “Amsterdam and Barcelona have been connected for generations, and modern football is still dominated by adaptations of the Dutch School. A long line of Dutch players transferred to FC Barcelona in their career, with many of these players sharing our Surinamese roots. All of this makes working with Nike on this collection a dream come true.”
The star of the collection is a special edition Air Max Plus dressed in a Blaugrana color scheme. While the silhouette first launched 25 years ago as a running shoe, the Air Max Plus has since been adopted by football fans and has become a staple in terrace culture. The footwear is accompanied by a matching range of apparel that includes hoodies, tracksuits, t-shirts, and caps.
The Nike x FC Barcelona x Patta “Culers del Món” collection will be available Friday, October 13th via Patta in-store and online. A wider release will follow on October 17th on the SNKRS app, fcbarcelona.com, and at select retailers.
