Air Max fans are well familiar with Nike’s Tn (Tuned Air) technology. The Swoosh is now introducing its next generation of footwear cushioning: Dn (Dynamic Air).
Making its debut on the Air Max Dn, Dynamic Air is comprised of a dual-chamber, four-tubed Nike Air unit designed for unreal comfort, a smooth stride, and max bounce. Through rigorous testing, Nike designers, engineers, and scientists found it optimal for the two tubes in the back chamber near the heel to have a higher pressure (15 psi), while the front two tubes are set at a lower pressure (5 psi). As you move, air freely flows between the tubes in each chamber.
“We call it ‘dynamic motion,’” says Reggie Hunter, Product Director for Nike Lifestyle Footwear. “The independent setup of the chambers means that the air unit can respond to the load of your body with each step. The feeling of heel-to-toe movement is seamless because the air unit is interacting in real time with your foot and moves with you. The Nike Air Max Dn was the first time we were able to unlock that feeling.”
The Dynamic Air unit is paired with a TPU shank arch clip in the midfoot that provides structure and support, while a TPU heel counter supports the Achilles. The rest of the midsole is constructed from Injected Phylon foam, while underfoot is a street-ready rubber outsole that wraps around the heel for traction and durability. Meanwhile, the Air Max Dn’s upper is constructed from a modern textile featuring a haptic, textured overlay with a silicone finish. The upper’s design is meant to invoke the dreamy, fluid feeling from the smooth heel-to-toe transition underfoot.
The hero colorways for the Air Max Dn are named “All Night” and “All Day,” nodding to how the shoe’s comfort allows for round-the-clock wear. The “All Night” comes dressed primarily in black with pink accents, while the “All Day” features a red upper that transitions to purple as it approaches the black sole unit.
The Nike Air Max Dn launches on Air Max Day, March 26th, in various colorways. The “All Night” and additional colorways will be available on nike.com and at Nike stores, while the “All Day” colorway will drop on SNKRS and at select retailers. Grab a detailed look below.
