New Balance Introduces 550 “Y2K” Pack

0

Since reintroducing the silhouette in 2020, New Balance has been dropping the 550 in a bunch of white-based colorways that stay true to the silhouette’s vintage basketball roots. Of course, there have been some exceptions, such as the collabs with size? and Rich Paul. New Balance is now expanding its offerings of the 550 with two patent leather options dressed in nostaglia-inducing vibrant colors.

These NB 550s are nicknamed the “Y2K” pack as they are reminiscent of the the footwear that designers like NIGO and Pharrell Williams were dropping in the early ’00s with their brands BAPE and ICECREAM. One pair comes in a mix of pink, green, and yellow, while the second comes in pink and red with hits of eggshell blue. These pairs feature New Balance branding on the heels encircled with star decals, making the comparisons to the BAPE STA even more apparent.

The New Balance 550 “Y2K” in the pink, green, and yellow colorway is available now on NewBalance.com and at select retailers. The second colorway is expected to drop in the coming weeks. Check them both out below.
