The GOAT Lionel Messi has been team adidas since the mid 2000s, and more recently secured a a lifetime deal with the brand in 2017. While the Argentine soccer superstar has had various special cleats made for him over the years, there haven’t really been any Messi x adidas sneaker collabs released to the public. That is about to change as Messi and the Three Stripes are coming together on the adidas Samba.
The Messi x adidas Samba comes dressed primarily in white leather with royal blue on the tongue, laces, and sockliner. The side stripes on the side come in a light blue, a hue similar to the one found on the Argentinian flag. Heel tabs are done up in gold, paying tribute to Messi’s World Cup win in Qatar, with matching gold foil Messi branding on the lateral. Additional Messi branding in the form of Messi’s personal logo is found printed on the tongues and debossed onto the lateral heels. Additional details include a classic grey suede T-toe overlay and an icy, translucent white sole.
This collaboration is expected to release in multiple colorways. A second version has surfaced online that features traditional Samba branding on the lateral, purple accents, and a neon yellow Messi logo on the tongue.
The Lionel Messi x adidas Samba in White/Blue/Gold has dropped early and is available now via WSS. The global release is set for February 20th on adidas.com and at select retailers. Info for the second colorway is TBA. Check out the images below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
