Original Story (10/17/23): It’s no secret that Cardinals QB Kyler Murray loves Dunks. He’s such a big fan of the silhouette that he even has his own Dunk Vapor Edge cleats. Nike is now blessing Murray with his own lifestyle version of the Dunk Low to wear off the field as well.
The Kyler Murray Dunk Low features a cargo green leather upper that is designed to soften and gain vintage character with wear. This is paired with raw-edged tweed overlays and a shiny rose gold Swoosh. A milky, translucent outsole sits atop a Sail midsole, and rope laces add a premium touch to the design. Looking inside the shoe, you can find Murray’s logo on the insoles and a hidden message promoting uniqueness on the tongue: “Be 1 of One.”
But wait, there’s more. If you peak under the cloth on the back of the heels, you can find a concealed message that reads “초록불,” Korean for “green light.” Not only is this a nod to Murray’s Korean roots, but the phrase itself is a reference to The Great Gatsby, which Kyler Murray claimed was his favorite movie. In the film (and book), the green light at the bay represents Gatsby’s hopes and dreams, which has become a source of inspiration for Murray throughout his career. There’s even green light icons embroidered on the medial heels.
