J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Rio” Release Info

Original Story (08/30/23): As we eagerly await the release of his first Air Jordan 3 collaboration, J Balvin once again has beat the leakers by sharing a first look at his second Air Jordan 3 collab, the black “Rio” colorway.

The Colombian superstar was spotted rocking this new Air Jordan 3 during a pick-up game of basketball in New York City, where he played alongside Miami Heat power forward Jimmy Butler. This colorway has many of the same design cues as the “Medellín Sunset” colorway (dropping this September), with the most obvious difference being the white leather uppers and white midsoles are now dressed in black. The elephant print has been darkened on the “Rio” pair, and the outsoles have also been updated, now dressed in a translucent orange.

This black colorway is said to be named “Rio” after J Balvin’s son, who was born in late June 2021. Coincidentally, the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Rio” is expected to drop in Summer 2024, around the same time as Rio’s 3rd birthday.
