HUF and Nike have had a rich catalog of collaborations over the past two decades, starting with their Air Max 1 project in 2004. The two brands will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their partnership in 2024 with a retro release of this cherished sneaker.
In 2004, sneaker collaborations were not as common as they are today. Skater Keith Hufnagel got that rare opportunity to work with the Swoosh just two years after opening his first HUF location in San Francisco in 2002. The result was an Air Max 1 constructed from nubuck and leather dressed in neutral grey tones with pops of lime green. A hyperstrike version was also created for friends and family, limited to 24 pairs, which featured the San Francisco skyline embroidered across the heels. This detail was also featured on 2022’s HUF x Nike SB Dunk project, which served as a celebration of HUF’s 20th anniversary as well as the celebration of the late Keith Hufnagel who passed away in 2020.
The 2024 version of the HUF Air Max 1 is expected to be an exact retro of the retail version that dropped in 2004. Expect it to drop Summer 2024 on SNKRS, the HUF website, and select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for first looks and additional updates.
