The ongoing partnership between DTLR and New Balance has seen some fire projects over the years, from the patriotic “Varsity” 992 to the South Beach-inspired 990v3 “Miami Drive.” DTLR product design manager June Sanders has now turned up the heat with latest NB project, the 9060 “Fire Sign.”
Inspired by volcanic outbursts, the 9060 “Fire Sign” features a breathable mesh upper done in a fiery mix of red and orange hues, which fade into vibrant yellows. The suede overlays come dressed in lava red, paired with contrasting hits of black and metallic silver. Underfoot, the ABZORB dual-density foam midsole comes in white with black speckling around the heel area. Rounding out the design is a shiny black CR device on the heel for stability and black rubber pods on the outsole.
