Concepts and New Balance are reuniting for a special 10th anniversary re-release of one of their most coveted collaborations, the 998 “C-Note.”
Originally released in 2013, the MADE in USA 998 “C-Notes Only” paid homage to the then-newly-redesigned $100 bill that now includes hues of blue. The shoes came dressed in a palette to match the century note, mixing olive greens with off-white tones, bright blue, and metallic copper.
For the most part, the design of the 10th anniversary retro version stays true to the 2013 original. Mesh uppers are complemented by suede overlays, reflective detailing, and ABZORB midsoles. The key change, however, is the addition of Concepts branding on the lateral heel. The 2023 release also comes in special packaging that denotes its 10th anniversary status.
“Money talks, if there’s one thing that hasn’t changed in the past 10 years it’s that,” says Concepts Creative Director Deon Point. “The C-Note represents all of us, it’s the universal language of exchange. Whether you’re old money or new money, you can relate.”
