Over the past couple years, ASICS’ selection of Y2K-era mesh runner silhouettes have seen a huge resurgence in the sneaker market. Styles like the GEL-KAYANO 14 and GEL-1130 have exploded in popularity, both with younger, trendier crowds as well as with old heads that prioritize comfort over style.
The Japanese footwear brand is hoping to keep this momentum going into 2025 and beyond by turning their focus to their 2010s running archive. Enter the GEL-KINETIC FLUENT, a new model that combines design DNA from the GEL-KINETIC and GEL-FLUENT silhouettes of the early 2010s with modern day technologies.
Uppers on the GEL-KINETIC FLUENT feature technical welding and eyelet elements from the 2010s, paired with contemporary materials that add both depth and texture to the design. Meanwhile, underfoot is a midsole that combines modern FF BLAST PLUS ECO cushioning with GEL technology on the heel.
A few colorways of the GEL-KINETIC FLUENT have already released, with the most recent offering being the “Seal Grey” and “White” iterations that have just arrived early at select US retailers such as CNCPTS and Lapstone & Hammer. These are set to drop globally on the ASICS website and at select retailers in April. Check them both out below.
