Jordan Brand is bringing back the OG Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” as part of it’s Spring 2025 lineup.
This black and red Air Jordan 12 originally released in 1997 and was famously worn by Michael Jordan during Game 5 of the NBA Finals that year. This matchup against the Utah Jazz is known as the “Flu Game” as MJ was sick and suffering from flu-like symptoms. Despite his illness, Mike led the Bulls to a victory, scoring 38 points with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
However, as you may have seen on ESPN’s The Last Dance documentary series, there is more to this story. The night before Game 5, MJ ordered a pizza from a local pizza spot in Utah. The employees at the pizza shop tampered with MJ’s order, resulting in him getting food poisoning. So it was really the “Food Poisoning Game,” but it just doesn’t have the same ring to it as “Flu Game” does.
28 years later, the “Flu Game” Jordan 12s are returning in true-to-OG form, meaning they will have all of the same features as the original 1997 release. This includes a black tumbled leather upper, a red mudguard with a reptile-like texture, Jumpman logos on the tongues, and number 23 on the back of the heels.
The 2025 Air Jordan 12 “Flu Game” is expected to drop on March 1st via SNKRS and select retailers in full family sizing. Grab an early look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
