A rare pair of “Purple Rain” Air Jordan 11s made exclusively for the late artist Prince has just surfaced.
According to the shoe’s owner, super sneaker collector @depeche23mode, this “Purple Rain” Air Jordan 11 sample was made exclusively for the High Priest of Pop, but due to his passing in 2016, the shoe’s never made it to his hands.
The 1-of-1 pair comes in an all-purple color scheme, featuring suede uppers paired with luxe velvet mudguards. Graphics on the insole pay homage to Prince’s classic 1984 album Purple Rain, featuring raindrops on a black backdrop and “Jumpman” branding in the Purple Rain font.
This “Purple Rain” Air Jordan 11 is just one of dozens of rare pairs recently acquired by Simon Voltaire Tan, better known in the sneaker community as @depeche23mode. Other grails in his stash include a “Cargo Khaki” Nike Yeezy 1 sample, the Air Jordan 10 “Rainbow Pack,” and the Off-White x Air Jordan 4 “Bred.”
Check out the 1-of-1 Air Jordan 11 “Purple Rain” sample below. If interested in purchasing, hit up @depeche23mode on Instagram, who is asking $100,000 for the size 9 deadstock pair.
