Original Story (10/31/23): At the top of every year, Nike releases special product to commemorate the Lunar New Year festivities. Last year, for the “Year of the Rabbit,” the Swoosh created a collection of special edition Dunk Lows as well as a rare Air Jordan 1 Low OG limited to 5000 pairs. This upcoming Year of the Dragon will also have special releases, including a new colorway of the Air Jordan 1 Low OG.

Featuring a theme inspired by the Chinese zodiac, the “Year of the Dragon” Air Jordan 1 Low OG is equipped with scaly green overlays that mimic the skin of the fire-breathing mythological creature. This is paired with a shiny dark red Swoosh with matching laces and tongue tags, plus a splash of gold on the heel panels. The exterior’s design also features a sail midsole and a translucent, icy outsole. Inside of the shoe, we see a silver satin sockliner and special graphics on the insoles and insides of the tongues. These will come with a metallic silver hangtag charm and special packaging.

The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Year of the Dragon” is expected to drop on January 24th via Nike and select retailers. While some previous CNY drops have remained Asia-exclusive, this release seems to be getting a wider release, though stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates as we approach the drop date.
