Jordan Brand has another Air Jordan 1 High ’85 on their 2025 release calendar. However, instead of giving us another OG colorway like they did with the Breds, this time we’ll be getting the unreleased “Inverse Shadow” sample.
The Air Jordan 1 “Inverse Shadow” (also known as “Reverse Shadow” or “Irregular Shadow”) was conceived during the sample process while creating the OG black and grey “Shadow” colorway that dropped in 1985. The key difference between this looksee sample and the retail version is the color blocking. The sample featured a black toe box with grey toe and eyelet overlays, while the retail version had these panels reversed, with grey on the toe box and black on the overlays. The color of the outsole was also switched from grey on the sample to the black on the retail pair.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the Air Jordan 1, Jordan Brand is now dropping this “Inverse Shadow” sample colorway in premium High ’85 form. These are similar to the “Shadow 2.0” High OG colorway from 2021, though with full-leather construction and an aged midsole for a vintage aesthetic.
Check out official images of the Air Jordan 1 High ’85 “Inverse Shadow” below. These are set to drop Summer 2025 on SNKRS and at select retailers. Stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for further release details.
