adidas AE 1 “Pure Ruby” Inspired by Anthony Edwards’ Alma Mater

First revealed during NBA All-Star Weekend earlier this year, the black and red colorway of the adidas AE 1 now has an official release date.

The latest colorway of Anthony Edwards’ signature basketball shoe pays homage to the NBA star’s college days as a Bulldog, playing for the University of Georgia. Officially dubbed “Pure Ruby,” the shoe is covered in red with black on the heels and ankle collars and a pop of white for the Three Stripes branding on the heels. This colorway has also been referred to as “Bulldawg” or simply “Bred.”

Note that the official name of the adidas AE 1 has been changed to the adidas Anthony Edwards 1. It is speculated that this name change is due to trademark issues, as the brand does not currently hold registered trademarks for “AE” or “AE 1.”

The adidas Anthony Edwards 1 “Pure Ruby” drops September 7th via adidas.com, at adidas stores, and at select retailers such as Foot Locker and Champs Sports. Check out the official images below.
