LEGO is paying tribute to late American graphic artist Keith Haring with the release of a brick-built version of his iconic “Dancing Figures” motif.
Rising to fame in the 1980s, Keith Haring became known primarily through his graffiti art, particularly his white chalk drawings on the black, blank advertising panels in the New York City subway system. These drawings, which often featured his signature style of vibrant, interconnected, and playful figures, have become instantly recognizable works of pop art worldwide. Many companies—from Converse, to OVO, to Reebok—have worked with the late artist’s estate to bring his artwork to life.
The “Dancing Figures” are a staple motif in Haring’s work, meant to reflect his love of hip-hop and the vibrant New York club scene. The characters are often depicted in energetic poses with vibrant colors and bold lines. The new 1,773-piece LEGO set is inspired by this design and includes five individual figures in five different colors, which can be displayed in two ways: on a stand or mounted on a wall.
The LEGO Art Keith Haring Dancing Figures set releases May 15th on lego.com and at select retailers. Check out the new set below.
