Over the past five years, Wales Bonner and adidas Originals have cultivated a devoted following with their collaborative footwear, delivering standout styles like leopard pony hair Sambas and croc-embossed Superstars. For Spring/Summer 2025, the London-based label expands its partnership with the Three Stripes by introducing its first original adidas silhouette, the Karintha.
Named after a character in Jean Toomer’s Cane, the adidas Karintha by Grace Wales Bonner blends familiar archival cues (such as the Samba’s signature T-toe) with a newly designed, low-profile rubber outsole featuring soft, curving edges for a sense of fluidity. The Karintha debuts in two contrasting styles: one in classic brown suede and the other in glimmering sequins.
The collection also revives the Superstar Hi in two minimalist suede colorways, updated with perforated 3-Stripes along the side panels and slimmed-down midsoles. Rounding out the footwear selection are two colorways of the Adilette slide, reimagined with crocheted straps handwoven in Brazil and tire-inspired outsoles that pay homage to the resourcefulness of communities across Africa, where repurposing old tires into durable shoe outsoles has been a longstanding tradition.
A nautical spirit flows through the Spring/Summer 2025 collection, evoking the rhythm and vibrancy of coastal cities. Apparel highlights include sailor-style pants, a lightweight nylon summer anorak, a heavyweight satin jacket with rope drawcords, a towel terry polo, nylon shorts, and an airy crochet-knit tee. Classic sportswear pieces—track tops, hoodies, tees, and baggy shorts—anchor the offering, while accessories like a brown suede bowling bag and structured leather handbag complete the look.
Shot along the shoreline, the campaign stars Brazilian footballer Raphinha and channels the breezy openness, soulful movement, and kinetic energy of port towns and seaside life.
