Wale Debuts the Nike G.T. Future

1

If anyone knows how to get a basketball sneaker fit off, it’s Wale. The DMV-area rapper would often be seen rocking early Foamposite samples in the 2010s, and we’ve all seen how he’s been styling the AE1s. It’s only right that Wale gets to debut Nike’s latest basketball shoe, the G.T. Future.

The new silhouette was spotted on Wale’s feet at the Nike Future Game experience in Oakland for NBA All-Star 2025. Marking the latest entry in Nike Basketball’s ‘Greater Than’ series, the G.T. Future features familiar design elements from Nike’s early 2000s basketball archive, such as the ankle collar of the Zoom Hyperflight and the overall aesthetic of the aforementioned Foamposite.

According to Nike footwear designer Frank Cooke, the new shoe “takes a bit of history and put[s] it in the light of the future.” Speaking of light, the Nike G.T. Future debuted by Wale features a one-piece molded red-orange reflective upper that shines when hit with a flash of light. A black colorway was also debuted by Nike NIL athlete AJ Dybantsa at Nike Future Game.

The Nike G.T. Future is set to launch later this year on Nike.com and at select retailers. Grab a first look at the new model below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
