Tom Sachs and Nike have announced the return of their partnership and the release of the upcoming NikeCraft Mars Yard 3.0.
Back in March of 2023, a report was published by Curbed which provided details on how artist Tom Sachs created a hostile, cult-like work environment in his studio. This led to Nike hitting pause on all Tom Sachs releases, including colorways of the General Purpose Shoe that were already produced and ready to hit shelves.
After a year-long review, Nike announced its plans to restart its partnership with the NYC-based artist. An official statement from the brand reads as follows:
“Tom has demonstrated and recommitted to fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity. We can confirm that our work with Tom will continue and this next chapter of NikeCraft will uphold our shared passion for team, product, and storytelling excellence. More details to come in 2025.”
Besides more General Purpose Shoe releases, Tom Sachs and Nike also had plans to release a third iteration of their highly coveted Mars Yard sneaker. Originally expected to launch Holiday 2023, we can now expect the shoe to drop sometime in 2025 according to a statement from Tom Sachs:
“I’m honored that we will continue to build together as a NikeCraft team and community. The Mars Yard 3.0 is in its final stage of development and is currently being wear-tested. I’m excited to share more soon.”
