Story mfg., the UK-based fashion label founded by husband-and-wife duo Saeed and Katy Al-Rubeyi, is gearing up to launch its new collaboration with ASICS on the GEL-VENTURE 6.
The shoes, dropping in two colorways, were first revealed last year as part of the brand’s SS25 “Good Luck” presentation, an untraditional runway show privately held in a wildflower field, which ties in with the brand’s nature-focused, eco-friendly approach to fashion and unwavering dedication to ethical production.
Made using a blend of recycled and responsibly sourced materials, Each pair features a breathable open mesh upper, with a gingham check pattern adorning the toe and heel overlays, tongues, and laces. One colorway features a white base and sole unit, paired with violet accents, while the second opts for an earthy brown color palette.
The woven-inspired lacing, a nod to Saeed’s teenage memories of local skaters in Baghdad, invites you to personalise your look with two sets of laces (one ecru and one gingham) included with each pair.
The campaign features people who take deep pride and joy in their craft, including dyers, weavers, and makers Story mfg. works with in Thailand.
Ahead of the global release, Story mfg. is hosting a community art event in London on April 11-12, where attendees will be able to contribute to the creation of a community-made quilt-tent—a continuation of their ‘Community Quilt’ project that kicked off in 2020. Guests will also have the chance to cop the ASICS collab at the event, a week before the official launch.
The Story mfg. x ASICS GEL-VENTURE 6 officially drops April 13th at 5pm UK time on the Story mfg. website and April 18th at select retailers worldwide. Check out the preview below.
