Reigning NL MVP and Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is set to receive his own New Balance 990v6 collaboration as part of the Japan-exclusive “Made for Shohei Ohtani” Capsule Collection.
The collection celebrates Ohtani’s homecoming after a historic season that saw him lead the Dodgers to a World Series championship. The release coincides with MLB’s Tokyo Series in Shohei’s hometown, running from March 15 to 19, where the LA Dodgers will play two exhibition games against the Yomiuri Giants and Hanshin Tigers on March 15 and 16, before facing the Chicago Cubs on March 18 and 19.
The capsule will include three baseball-inspired apparel items, available exclusively to fans who visit the Ohtani Tokyo Pop-Up Experience in Shibuya from March 15 to 23. It also includes a Shohei Ohtani x New Balance 990v6, dropping March 17th exclusively on the New Balance website in Japan.
Shohei’s New Balance 990v6 comes dressed in a cream, green, and navy color scheme, somewhat reminiscent of the jerseys worn by the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters—the team with which Ohtani made his professional baseball debut in 2013. Ohtani’s signature New Balance logo is found on the shoe’s insoles.
For those outside Japan, New Balance has also added new items to the Ohtani Signature Collection, available globally. The range of on-field performance apparel and off-field essentials draw inspiration from the game itself, incorporating designs and details inspired by baseball heritage.
