Following the release of the TURBODRK Chuck 70, Rick Owens now brings his rebellious edge to the Converse Weapon, an iconic basketball high top model from 1986.
Initially teased back in June, the TURBOWPN features an exaggerated upper and tooling. The tongue has been elongated, while the midsole is nearly twice the size as the original Weapon. “When I discovered how powerful just oversizing something a little bit was, which I’ve done with a lot of my clothes, that became one of my tools,” Owens says.
Inside the shoe is a CX foam drop-in for added comfort, while the toe box is subtly reinforced for durability. The launch colorway comes in black, a common color used by Owens that also reflects the original colorway of the Weapon. Rick Owens’ DRKSHDW branding is found on the tongue and the side panels.
The DRKSHDW x Converse TURBOWPN releases August 31st on converse.com (10am ET), RickOwens.eu, Rick Owens shops, and select retailers.
