Revenge SS25 Collection Nods to Japanese Culture

0

Following a Death Note collab earlier this year, LA-based streetwear brand Revenge is now diving deeper into Japanese culture with its Spring/Summer 2025 collection.

The latest offering features tees and hoodies adorned with yami-kawaii (sick-cute) graphics, paying homage to a subculture that combines the cute aesthetic of kawaii with dark themes like violence and the occult. A perfect example of this is the Hello Kitty-themed tees and hoodie, featuring gun-toting characters on the front and the Sanrio squad performing a ritual on the back.

There is also a “Menhera” hoodie, referencing the Japanese internet slang term used to describe someone with mental health issues—often expressed in a lighthearted or self-deprecating way and closely associated with yami-kawaii.

Other graphics in the collection reference video games and consoles such as the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii, PS2, Tekken, Dead or Alive, and Left 4 Dead, as well as animes like Berserk and Hunter x Hunter. The drop also includes classic Revenge pieces, such as skull-adorned sweats, distressed hoodies, and leather pants and jackets.

Revenge Spring/Summer 2025 drops Friday, April 25th at 2pm PT on the Revenge website. Check out the lookbook and product lineup below.
