Mexico-based fashion label Liberal Youth Ministry is dropping a wild collaboration with Pokémon.
Founded in 2016 by Antonio Zaragoza out of Guadalajara, Liberal Youth Ministry is known for its rebellious aesthetic, blending Aztec influences with ’80s and ’90s pop culture, punk and garage style, and soccer-inspired design elements. This mash-up of references reflects the universality of youth culture—not just in Mexico, but around the world.
The collaboration with Pokémon is comprised of jerseys, oversized pants and hoodies, and even male skirts, all adorned with bold all-over prints and checkered patterns. Featured across the collection are legendary Pokémon from the first four generations, including the Gen 1 legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres), the Gen 2 legendary dogs (Entei, Suicune, and Raikou), the super-ancient Weather Trio of Gen 3 (Kyogre, Groudon, and Rayquaza), and the mythical Creation Trio of Gen 4 (Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina). While not technically a legendary, Charizard also appears on a few of the pieces.
The Liberal Youth Ministry x Pokémon collection drops May 30th exclusively at Dover Street Market Paris, the LYM Studio in Guadalajara, Mexico, and online at 4pm CST on the LYM website. Check out the lookbook below.
