Gap and Sean Wotherspoon have announced the launch of GapVintage, a new program that puts Gap’s iconic product archive directly in the hands of customers around the world.
After being named Gap’s Global Vintage Curator in 2023, Wotherspoon now expands his partnership with the American apparel brand. GapVintage will release a series of yearlong vintage drops curated by the Round Two co-founder and feature a selection of seasonal themed pieces throughout the year.
The first GapVintage drop highlights some of Sean’s favorite pieces dating back from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s, authenticated and hand-sourced from Sean’s travels. The lineup ranges from Gap essentials such as the ’90s Striped Pocket T-Shirt ($55) and ’90s Classic Logo Hoodie ($85), to rare exclusives like the ’80s Denim Jacket Hoodie ($90) and ’90s Nylon Anorak Zip-Up Windbreaker ($90).
As a renowned vintage collector and lifelong Gap fan, Sean Wotherspoon holds this partnership near and dear to his heart. His mother worked at a Gap store in the ’90s and would often be dressed head to toe in the brand as a kid.
“I’m excited to see Gap take curated control over the supply of its vintage product and renew this program in an even bigger way since we pioneered it almost two years ago,” says Wotherspoon. “As the vintage and secondhand market continues to grow and resonate among younger generations, I’m looking forward to bringing GapVintage to the hands of today’s youth around the world.”
The first GapVintage drop will be available in the U.S. starting Tuesday, February 4th at 12pm ET on gap.com, with an in-store drop at Gap’s Flatiron Store in New York. In Japan, the collection will be available in select store pop-ups in Shinjuku, Tokyo, on February 1st and Osaka on February 8th. Check out pieces from the first drop below.
