adidas Originals is teaming up with Epic Games to release a footwear collection inspired by the popular battle royale video game Fortnite.
The collection is comprised of various iterations of the Ultraboost 1.0, each inspired by a character skin or other in-game object. The wildest of these iterations is the “Peely” colorway, inspired by the anthropomorphic banana character. The shoe features a yellow sheath that can be removed just like a banana peel, revealing a banana-colored knit upper with the character’s face on the toe boxes. A “nana nana” sticker motif appears on the sheath and on the outsoles, referencing the emote of the same name.
Also in the collection is the Ultraboost 1.0 “Fishstick,” inspired by the game’s orange fish character, featuring his large bulbous eyes on the heel counters. There are also two “Battle Bus” colorways, inspired by the aerial vehicle that transports players to the Battle Royale Island at the beginning of every match. Rounding out the selection are two “Victory Crown” colorways inspired by the item you receive after a Victory Royale. The heel counters come in metallic gold and feature a protruding llama head, just like the in-game crown.
