NYC-based streetwear brand Brigade introduces its new collection for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. The latest offering is influenced by co-founder and designer Aaron Maldonado’s time spent in Japan over the last decade, blended with his New York upbringing and Puerto Rican and Dominican roots.
A highlight of the collection is the Lares Flag Shirt, featuring a design inspired by the first flag of Puerto Rico. The Lares flag represents the island’s Grito de Lares revolt of 1868 against Spanish rule, adapted by Brigade as a symbol of rebellion and rising up against oppression. The rebellious energy continues with the Young Lords polo, adorned with images of the Puerto Rican Young Lords, a group that advocated for social justice and community change for Puerto Ricans in NYC in the ’60s and ’70s.
Elsewhere, Brigade applies intricate sashiko quilting to flannels and velour tracksuits, bringing Japanese embroidery techniques to streetwear staples. The collection also features a Souvenir Hockey Jersey inspired by the souvenir jacket style that originated in Japan post-WWII.
Soccer-inspired knitted shirts, offered in two striped colorways, expand on the blokecore themes from previous seasons. The Theo jersey adds a bit of playfulness to the lineup, featuring the brand’s unofficial mascot—the dog of Brigade co-founders Aaron and Sarah Maldonado—depicted with the Brigade SS25 bandana silk scarf around his neck. The Jesus Piece Rugby Shirt ties everything back to OG New York street culture, featuring the iconic chain popularized by Notorious B.I.G.
The Brigade Spring/Summer 2025 collection will be released in three deliveries over the next few months. The first drop will be available on Friday, February 28th at 12pm EST on the Brigade website. Check out the full lookbook below.
