Balenciaga is no stranger to unusual and unexpected collaborations. In the past few years, the luxury fashion house has partnered with the likes of Crocs, The Simpsons, and even Fortnite. As part of the Spring 2025 season, Balenciaga is now teaming up with sportswear brand Under Armour.
Balenciaga x Under Armour is not as unusual as the aforementioned projects. They did a collab with another sportswear brand, adidas, not too long ago. The difference is that adidas has tons of experience in the high fashion space (see adidas x Gucci), while Under Armour tends to focus on performance and innovation.
On the other hand, this unexpected union makes sense in a way. The two brands can bring in their contrasting areas of expertise to create a best-of-both-worlds situation. Under Armour brings its fabrics and functionality and applies them to Balenciaga’s volumes and shapes for a unique expression of fashion.
This collaboration was officially revealed on May 30th during Balenciaga’s Spring 2025 fashion show in Shanghai. While the pieces revealed on the runway won’t be available until later this year, Balenciaga and Under Armour celebrated the unveiling with the launch of a capsule comprised of eight unisex pieces. The offering includes zip-up hoodies, t-shirts, sweatpants, shorts, and socks, each piece featuring Under Armour and Balenciaga co-branding.
The full Balenciaga x Under Armour Spring 2025 collection will include apparel, footwear, jewelry, headwear, bags, small leather goods, and more. Included in the footwear offering is a ribbed Speed Trainer-like model and along with a modified version of the Balenciaga 3XL.
Accessories previewed from so far include a pair of Under Armour logo silver hoop earrings and a belt with a large silver logo buckle.
