Independent Swedish fashion house AVAVAV and adidas are continuing their partnership for a second season, having unveiled a new Spring/Summer 2025 collection this March at Milan Fashion Week.
Founded in 2021 by its creative director Beate Karlsson, AVAVAV is best known for its unconventional designs, often driven by humor. The women-led brand first teamed up with adidas for last September’s “Forza e Coraggio” show, where Karlsson reimagined classic Three Stripes silhouettes and sportswear heritage in her signature absurdist style.
The SS25 show transformed a race track into a runway with “clumsy” and “unathletic” models, inspired by the concept of “high fashion and low performance.” Various collaborative pieces with adidas were showcased, including Adicolor tracksuits, an adidas Superstar remix of AVAVAV’s Larva bag, and a wacky shoe model called the Superfingers Superstar, a unique take on the adidas Superstar that comes equipped with a detachable finger-shaped bag at the toe.
AVAVAV’s FW25 Milan Fashion Week runway show, “The Hole,” marked the next chapter in its adidas collaboration. This time, the show drew inspiration from the undead, exploring themes of anxiety, death, and life’s fragility. Models, styled with ghostly makeup, rose from a burial sight before walking the runway.
Three distinct footwear designs were debuted at the show: the Moonrubber Megaride, a 90s-inspired sneaker with a sculpted translucent sole and mesh upper; the Modified Superstar, a chunkier iteration of the classic shell-toe with a warped toe cap; and a high-heel designed to resemble an adidas sock.
Check out the looks from AVAVAV x adidas SS25 “The Hole” below. Expect these pieces to drop later this year on adidas.com, the AVAVAV website, and at select retailers.
