Originally released in 1991 as a part of the OG Jordan 6 lineup, the “Infrared” colorway is a clear fan-favorite, re-released several times over the years. However, Jordan Brand has kept an unreleased sample in its archives dubbed the “Reverse Infrared,” which is now slated to hit shelves for the first time.
Back when the “Infrared” Air Jordan 6 was set to get its first retro in 2000, Nike created a sample that put a slight twist on the OG, reversing the color blocking on the midsole and heel. This version was pictured in salesman’s catalogs and Eastbay magazines, though the actual release ended up being much more similar to the original 1991 pair.
This rare “Reverse Infrared” colorway is now being released for the first time as part of Jordan Brand’s Spring 2026 retro lineup. Like the OG “Infrared” 6, it features a predominately black design with red accents and an icy translucent outsole. Along with the reverse blocking on the midsole, this version also features red Nike Air branding on the heels instead of the OG black.
The Air Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” is set to release February 2026 on SNKRS and at select retailers. Check out the original sample below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates.
