Air Jordan 10 “Steel” Returns In OG Form

Fans of the Air Jordan 10 have had it rough lately. It’s been five years since Jordan Brand last dropped an AJ10 (the SoleFly “10th Anniversary”) and seven years since the last retro of an original colorway. But that drought is finally ending in 2025 as the Jumpman is rewarding everyone’s patience with retros of two OG colorways: the “Steel” and “Shadow.”

Kicking off the silhouette’s long-awaited return is the “Steel Grey” colorway, first released in 1994 and retro’d twice over the years (2005 and 2013). This was MJ’s first signature shoe to release during his first retirement from the NBA, when he stepped away from basketball to pursue a career in baseball.

The 2025 version of the Air Jordan 10 “Steel” will stay true to the original 1994 release, complete with the toe cap overlay that only appeared on the shoe’s first production run. As the story goes, MJ missed his meetings with Tinker Hatfield while he was away playing baseball. When he finally got to see the AJ10 in-hand, he wasn’t feeling the extra layer of leather at the toe, but at this point it was too late, the pairs had already been manufactured. This toe cap was removed from all future production runs, creating the cleaner look that MJ envisioned. Over 30 years later, the toe cap makes its return to the Jordan 10 as a tribute to Tinker Hatfield’s original design.

The Air Jordan 10 “Steel” is slated to drop on August 2nd via SNKRS and select retailers. Grab an early look below and stay tuned to Modern Notoriety for updates on this pair as well as the upcoming “Shadow” colorway.
