Air Jordan 1 High OG “Xuanwu” Celebrates Year of the Snake

Jordan Brand is celebrating the Lunar New Year with the release of a limited-edition “Xuanwu” Air Jordan 1 High OG honoring the Year of the Snake.

In Chinese culture, Xuanwu is a revered deity and mythological creature, often depicted as a combination of a tortoise and a snake. The Air Jordan 1 High OG “Xuanwu” features a white leather upper combined with gold-sprayed overlays with a snakeskin-embossed texture at the toe and eyelets. The Swoosh, heel counter, and Wings logo mimic the look of tortoise shells with traditional Chinese motifs incorporated into the design. Additional tortoise shell print appears on the translucent outsoles and the box sleeve. The Wings logo and lace tips are plated with 24K gold, adding another layer of luxury to the shoe.

Similar to the Nike Air Force 1 CNY “Shuangxi” released last year for the Year of the Dragon, these Jordan 1s are extremely limited and will be releasing exclusively in the Greater China region. A total of 3,399 pairs will be released, and each pair is individually numbered on the inner tongue tag.

The number 3,399 has a deeper meaning in Chinese culture. It’s pronunciation in Mandarin is similar to the phrase “Shēngshēng jiǔjiǔ” (生生久久) meaning “for all eternity,” which is used to wish newly wed couples a long-lasting marriage. Snakes and tortoises are also considered symbols of longevity in Chinese culture, further connecting to the shoe’s “Xuanwu” theme.

The Air Jordan 1 High OG “Xuanwu” will be releasing February 4th exclusively in Greater China. Check out the official images below.
